Look Up Every Day

My words have always been songs, waiting to be heard and understood!

I have always written, about people, places, things that happen in my or other peoples lives. I write about events or the things that make mad or happy. Life is so full of good and bad things it's hard to know where to stop and start. These are my latest posts as I write they will change, the words are my own except where noted

As you read you will see sadness, happiness and thoughtfulness and hear thought provoking words. Just remember to have fun!

To What Purpose??

To What Purpose??
For so many years I have worked and sought to come to terms with the very existence of my life....

My Time As Tevye

My Time As Tevye
In the last 14 years I have had the pleasure of performing the role of Tevey in Fiddler on the Roof twice. The first time was in 1999 in Flagstaff AZ with the Flagstaff Light Opera Company.  That production was a lot of fun and gave me the opportunity to get to know a character I loved for so many years. My favorite characterization was of course by Topal in the film version and so I made him my model to work from during that performance. I have to say in retrospect the production then focused more on the music and dance than the actual depth and characterization of the story line.  This of course was most likely due to the Director and her desire to  create a show worthy of the music and dance, although it was a grand experience, looking back I have to say it was lacking in power and might of the story.

A Difficult Day

A Difficult Day
There are some days when you wake up and know that it's going to be a hard day, and later you realize you were right. Sometimes you tell yourself, it's so bad it couldn't get any worse, and then you find out, ...it can. My day started out that way, and as I went to work I felt that uneasy felling of "oh boy it's going to be one of those days". I got to work and napped in my car for about 20 minutes as I was feeling pretty tired. When I walked in to work the feeling got stronger and things went pretty much the way I thought they would. If it could go wrong, it did and the demands of my job were more so than usual. Maybe I was just feeling they were, or maybe they just were. As the morning wore on I spoke with one of my frequent customers and he asked how I was, I said I was just having one of those days. He proceeded to tell he had one the other day and imparted that common adage, it can only get better.

Retail and the State of Humanity (an observation)

Retail and the State of Humanity (an observation)
If any one had told me 15 years ago that I would be working in the retail industry I would have laughed and told them they were crazy. Over the last 9 years I have worked in retail in a big box, helping people fiqure out how to fix their problems and their lives. For the most part it has been an interesting experience but as of late things have begun to take a turn. After almost ten years I'm beginning to see an unusual change in people or perhaps they have always been this way and I just never noticed ( but I doubt it). It's common to find assholes in life, most often they are fairly easy to detect before you talk to them. Lately it seems more and more people are of the mind that the world revolves only around them and their very petty little problems, especially in the world of retail.

Living With Fire

Living With Fire
Most people know what it means to live somewhere like California, if you live there, a lot of people know you also have to live with earthquakes. I’ve lived in the high country of the Southwestern United States, primarily in the four corners region, for nearly 20 years. Living out here I’ve witnessed many large forest fires and seen the ravages that fire can leave behind. I’ve also seen what happens after years of regrowth. A forest can come back and takes many years to become what it was but more often people have the harder time getting over a fire.
